Gossip Girl and the Re-Emergence of Early 2000’s Fashion

Gossip Girl has long since been my favorite show. I’ve loved it since I watched the first ep in high school. A show about the glamorous New York City, fashion, and the ultra rich? Count me in. They had me when Young Folks played in the intro.

Anyway, as I’ve been rewatching GG, I’ve noticed the fashion more than ever. With the cyclical trend cycle, it’s no wonder I’ve noticed what Blair and Serena are wearing. Two specifics looks I’ve noticed are with the trending colors, cobalt blue and Kelly green. In season 2, Eleanor’s fashion show was full of Kelly green dresses. In the very next episode, Blair wakes up in a cobalt blue nightgown. Now, obviously those are just two scenarios, but it’s no wonder that the high class fashion featured in this early 2000s show would match up with the y2k trends we are seeing currently.
